Birmingham Grime Mega Guide
Think of this as a starting point if someone asks, ‘What’s going on in Birmingham?’
Things have been documented to a decent level for the last 10 years:

The latest example, the endpoint of that story, is where things kinda stopped. I felt it’s been boiled down to Instagram stories and 'IYKYK' type situations, but since then, the last 24 months have seen the most rapid expansion of everything growing again.
This is what I’m making this for, think of it as a directory for what’s going on right now.
I don’t know everything, and new things are happening all the time, so I’ll update this as I find new things, people, events, platforms and all that good stuff.
If you got any updates or I’ve missed stuff, drop links and info to [email protected]
Table of Contents
Use the table of contents to jump to a section but I’d recommend reading the ‘Start Here’ section before doing all that, but I linked everything so ya can do what you want.

Artists
Older artists
There are loads of new artists, however, some of the older artists are still around as well. The latest and greatest display is the recent Call Up rave. Mayhem, Trilla, Jaykae, Devilman, Sox, Vader and loads more all on one stage. There have been 2 of these raves so far.
Most of the artists you’ve listened to are most active on Instagram lately, so search there name and you should be able to stay up to date with them.
New artists
Prolific with an unmatched workrate, Mayday’s ability to collaborate, innovate and organise showcases his ability to get stuff done. He creates instead of waits. His ALB project has 26 Birmingham artists across 17 tracks and has ‘ALB’ has become the name for the movement of this new Grime energy in the city.
Check out the Awful Lotta Birmingham Mixtape
An MC’s MC. Stretch puts bars together no-one else can, even more so with that flow. He’s clashed, done sets and has a good string of singles; now it seems people are awaiting a project.
Check out his latest single, Clarity.
The main catalyst for picking up the pieces of Birmingham’s Grime scene when everyone abandoned it. Most people now know Trappy from his viral sets and PenGame clashes but the city knows him as the guy who was creating and curating a space for Grime events in the city when no one else cared.
Check out the None of Them Allstar Remix
Lately known for his viral battle raps on PenGame, but this guy can scheme about anything. Drizz has proven his rap ability and blends between that and Grime effortlessly. He loves to go to war; the ‘GB’ stands for ‘Get Busy’ for a reason.
Check out Drizz’s collab EP with Trappy - Champion Season

Muay thai clinch has every single Grime set in an actual clinch. DH’s rapid-fire flow and multisyllabics have caught people’s attention at an insane rate. He always has new bars for radio, he keeps it fresh all the time.
DH - Eazy Greazy EP
His storytelling ability is very underrated. You get a certain level of authenticity and tenacity with every Rgg release. Be it a freestyle, a song or even in his clashes. You know it’s him by his voice, distinctive and individual.
Listen to Rgg Tech - If The Shoe Fits EP
A musicman through and through. He’s currently pushing his ‘Griphop’ sound and with a Ghetts co-sign and consistent work with Toddla T and the Steeze Factory, it’s easy to see why CreezOn looks like the future.
Check out the GripHop EP here
MVP of the Brum Vs Manny clash. He doesn’t say much until you give him a microphone and then he cuts through with ‘REGARDDDDDLESS’ and the room is his.
Listen to his collab EP with Ace1 - Soul JAHS.
A name not often associated but that’s purely because he’s in his own lane. Multiple songs of his are Grime and he was on the ‘Canva set’ on Sigil Radio. He recently had his final show and has retired from music but his catalogue will stand the test of time, hence the inclusion.
Listen to the Local Boyz EP
The youngest veteran. Numerous viral moments but now he’s locked in and dropping regularly. The most notable name out of the new guys as he was the solo ‘new' artist in the 0121 Legacy documentary.
Listen to Golden Girl In A Broken World
AKA Ranger Productionz can both rap and produce. He had a standout performance at the Call Up rave.
Recently focusing on his production, he put together the Shelly Shutdown Anthem.

Only 1 drop but this guy has mad confidence. When he drops more, everyone will understand.
TPY - 2025 Intro Freestyle
THE ONLY B. Many are saying she’s next and with 2 viral posts and a Spotify documentary under her belt, it seems like a healthy bet to make. Her recent release of Riddimz & Flowz has been getting big support lately.
Listen to Riddimz & Flowz.
..YOUR TOWN, is normally how you are introduced to him. Or the ‘UGH!’ adlib he’s known for. Traj is on a hot streak on radio, which helped him form a partnership with the icon Plastician.
TrajBrown x Plastician - Back Dated
Big name, big lyrics. Legacy’s got new stuff coming but he is one of the earliest appearances on the Awful Lotta Birmingham project.
Check out Legacy’s feature on Novak.
Sharp as you can get, Trikky has a clarity few possess. Another active guy, went away for a bit and he’s come back with a vengeance. He only says what matters, which is the name of the track you should start with, of his.
Trikky - Say What Matters
Grhymz is a clash guy through and through; it seems he’s always active in that realm. If not that, his got a consistent slew of freestyles every month it seems. Combine that with set appearances and he’s very active.
Watch Grhymz vs Shelton here.
She’s only 16 but she spits with skill and confidence of someone 10 years older. Her latest release, ‘The Most’ is the best display of what Tai can do. One to keep tapped in with for sure.
A wordsmith who always stays on topic, he also recently went viral amidst the rising tensions about Race in the UK. 1M views in 3 days and he’s got new music landing imminent.
This Is England freestyle
Bermuda’s best, a real micman. Any tempo this guy thrives on. Kaution’s energetic and fierce so he can tear down a riddim like it owes him money. Real all-rounder.
Check out Hustla Baby
DeeVee hasn’t dropped yet this year but when he’s on, he’s on.
His last MRG Media freestyle is the most recent release.
DY is one of these who drops and then takes a period of time before coming back to drop again, it’s a healthy balance that works for him.
His latest mixtape, ‘Don’t Yano’, is the best place to start with his catalog.
DJs
These DJs have played Grime at many events, radio sets and live performances. They don’t solely play Grime music but it’s a strong part of their USB, so check ‘em out.

Sigil Radio Co-Founder and Bossman, Ringers has opened the doors for loads of talent to visit Sigil but as a DJ, she’s also done a lot, fast. This is radio and live events throughout the UK. She also has a consistent music discovery series on her Tiktok.
Check out her B2B Lilith with Cola B and Lit Lum
Chapo came out of nowhere, swept up every opportunity he could find and is now the go-to guy for most people. He has his own bi-weekly show on BSR and has toured Australia and across Texas. He’s always welcoming new MCs and giving them a training ground.
Check out his BSR show here
Misha just plugs her USB in and your ears get hit with darkest riddims that you’ve never heard. She does it regularly to. Then when she has MCs, she matches them perfectly.
You can see it here when she worked with a Japanese artist without any warning.
KonTheFirst, KonTheLast. There’s one KON. KON’s a community guy. He builds and he just does the work. Things such as OurTurn and a whole heap of other stuff he’s involved in. A guy who provides a vibe without trying, you get it?
See his recent Doppler Radio set.
A newer name but a lot of people first heard him clash in the debut DJ edition of Prizefighter, talk about an opportunist. When he’s not going dub for dub, you can see his at various sets around the UK.
Check his latest blend on Mission London.
HB is a promoter and a DJ. He puts on the lineups everyone wants to see but for some reason, no one has actually put together yet. A man of the people. His Sigil residency sees him bring together names from across the UK.
Check out Locals Only.

Her insta bio says ‘n a bit more’, very very accurate. Daisy plays what she likes and she’s not afraid to throw curveballs in the mix. She DJs with a free energy, a true fan of music and bringing sounds to people.
Check her out with Grove Sound here
A man of few words but many sounds and productions. The way he shapes sounds is something not many others can do. He’s called Off Key for a reason.
Check out his productions playlist.
Lilith’s show is called ‘Audio Mezze’ because that’s what she does, she gives you a plethora of sounds you didn’t even know you wanted. Her insta is show flyer after show flyer, she’s up and down the UK DJing, so you know she’s good.
Check her Audio Mezze show on Sigil Radio here

Dunya captain, RX, is a curator by nature. She’s always musically involved in something in the city, and if she’s not hosting it, she’s supporting it. She’s one of those who puts others on without a second thought because she’s a creative who cultivates, simple but truly effective.
Listen to RX B2B Medley P
Jacky B, the international champ. There’s not a big city that Jack hasn’t played in it seems. Grime, Amapiano, Trap, Jack tells the crowd what they want and they follow his lead in the mix. A DJ’s DJ.
Check him out on Mission London.
The producer/event promoter/DJ does it all. He’s recently performed at Outlook festival and OneFortyAsia, so he gets about.
His Sox Elite Session edit is a fan favourite.
Kingpin has been a staple, across many creative outlets. If you need him to run a set, he can. You need him to warm the crowd, he can. You need him to headline and play the classics, he can. If you need it from a DJ, Kingpin has you covered.
Kingpin’s an experience. There’s nothing to check out, follow his Instagram and see him outside.
Producers
People from Birmingham can do many things. You’ll see some of these producers also DJ, or they got bars, or something else.
Some say the prodigy, some say the coldest. You can see why people say it as Lotus puts sounds together that portray a mood from the first second. He just gets it. He’s done loads of work with brands, DJ’d up and down the country and is creative in music in other ways to.
Check out his production on Trappy’s Behind Barz
Timma is doing a lot lately. A solid example of a great DJ who also produces what he wants to hear. Currently working on a lot of stuff with OneMoreRiddim and he’s very good at putting the right people on his productions. Also has his own monthly show on Reprezent radio
See Rise Up ft Kyeza for a good example.

AKA Demtew. Both have huge production credits on their own with Sniper and Darnce Dun (Horrickle Remix) and also as the duo, Demtew have Bookey Blvd.
Both are very serious DJs to, they’ve span multiple sets in countries around the globe. They’re as strong together as they are individually, very very serious.
Check out their Bookey Blvd EP.
Spl4sh has bars, for real. He’s not dropped vocals yet but he works closely with Cola B and produced on her debut EP. He’s a man of many sounds and styles, unpredictability at its finest.
Check out the 2020Grime EP.
Owner of the hottest tune on road right now, Felix has credits from UK to Brazil and beyond. Vocals and instrumentals. Very integral piece whose been getting his deserved flowers as of late.
Moshino has bars, he’s recently dropped a new single, going in a new direction.
Check out all his productions here
Radio Stations
Birmingham has a few radio stations that have consistent Grime shows and sets with new and old talent.
The most dependable is DJ Big Mikee, Sundays 8-10pm on Birmingham Sounds Radio, he’s normally got guests for a live set, clash, freestyle and a conversation with new Grime music every week.
Other shows include DJ Chapo with his Bi-weekly Breach Gang Show and DH’s Syndicate Show with DJ Nutz which takes place monthly.
BSR was also home to the origins of the Birmingham vs Manchester clash.

Sigil Radio specialises in more closed-quarter Grime sets. A few MCs and 1-2 DJs. The same setup produced the viral ‘How can I take investment advice from a man with artwork made on Canva?’ moment.
Sigil is always showcasing new talent aswell and the lineups are always varied, you’ll find an MC or DJ you never heard of, pretty much every time you listen.
Suren is an experimental station. Suren FM is an extension of SurenClo, a clothing brand, which is fusing Grime sets with garments.
We’ve seen pop-up radios here and there but these are special one-offs. It’s great when they happen, so we’ll see if some extend their operation to a full station.
Platforms
These platforms are a mix of YouTube channels and Instagram pages doing serious documentation.
You’ve seen a clip from their Instagram page but you didn’t know they are also both DJs and host their own mixes. Hitting them on Instagram is the best way to stay up to date with everything they have going on.

AKA S20, specialises in bringing the duos that people never expected but always asked for. They took a break recently but they’re returning very soon, so I’d subscribe and make sure you don’t miss it.
OTD is everywhere recently. They’ve covered raves and live events mostly. Wouldn’t be surprised for them to curate something themselves in the next 6-12 months.
Ozone Media has documented things for nearly a decade and it still doing it. Clash series, sets, freestyles, you’ve seen something at some point. They are still at it to.
This guy is tapped into everything going on in the city. It’s an Instagram page dedicated to all new releases, events and anything that’s worth paying attention to.
Events
Thrown by Sunil, AKA SunilBBK, Sunil just goes through his phonebook, gets his favourite artists and DJs, puts everyone in one venue and it’s 100% Grime. Sunil announces his events himself but you can check ‘The Sunil Show’ page for updates to.

Curated by Mayday and hosted by Bene Culture, a pop-up to celebrate Grime music. Multiple DJ B2Bs and culminates in a big set with familiar faces at the end. Intimate Grime settings due to the space size but as authentic as it gets.
These are hosted and curated by Trappy. They normally involve a clash and a big set and take place every few months. Follow Trappy and the Self Success page on Instagram to find out about the next one.
Birmingham’s great Grime label, which throws pure 140 driven events, Grime, dubstep, Bass, anything in this realm and always has crazy, unorthodox lineups you can’t get anywhere else.
There’s been 2 so far, both headlined by the older artists with a warmup set from the new artists and some Garage and Bassline in the mix.
Promoted by OneFortyBPM so follow them for any future updates on the 3rd.
Final Words
I made this so you can know what’s going on, or you can send it to a friend so they do. I’ll update it over time as things emerge.
