T.Roadz Headline Show

He did it, 21st Birthday Headline show in the books.

I was there at 6:15pm to help out Cola B with something; from there, Rdon and Duddy were the first to arrive and we spoke outside for an hour. Everything from ALB, to releasing old music and generally discussing content and rollout plans.

Then people started rolling in and over the next 90 minutes, the smoking area filled up with new faces and old faces, covered in a cloud of smoke, in such a confined outside area.

“Where’s Roadz?” must have been said like 20 times because of course, he was last to turn up.

An awful lotta conversations and handshakes later, post-Duddy warming up the crowd and both Klyrae and Colzino showcasing their catalogue, T.Roadz and his sharp haircut, cut through the crowd. The room was 90% full and I’m at the back about halfway into his first tune.

Crowd were onside from Bar 1.

“When I say T, lemme get a Roadz. T!”

“ROADZ”, the room erupted in unison.

This same call-and-response would be used by the host, Starzzy, throughout the 35-minute set. Chapo played the following set list and each song had multiple wheelups.

A point of note, he hyped it up from the first song but requested the lights be off for his Kenny 3style. It got national attention on Rap Game UK and people really felt this one. The iPhone and Samsung flashes went off everywhere, and as the beat dropped, both Roadz, the beat, and the crowd all shouted. A symphony of triumph.

Then he invited all the MCs in the room on stage for a big Birmingham Grime set.

I made my way to the stage, got stuck in the side door, stayed on stage for 5 mins and came back into the crowd because there was an awful lotta MCs on the stage.

A great problem to have but the speaker and my right eardrum became best friends to quickly, so I got down and documented from the back of the room.

I left about 10mins before the set finished but everyone from Sox, to TPY, Hitman to Varntae, Trappy to DH turned out for the set. Load of other names, full thing will be released soon. I’ll add the link here when it does.
